Hello! I`ve got one request for you. I collect words in various languages. Now I`m looking for word "sugar" in other languages, but I can`t find a Tuvan dictionary. I`ve got counterparts of word "sugar" in Japanese, Ahmaric, Thai, Georgian and Chinese, so can you write me what is "sugar" in Tuvan language? I`ve got this word in 282 languages and dialects of many regions and countries in the world so it is very important for me! Thank you very much! Szoltys <talk>

The Tuvan word for sugar is чигир "chigir". I suppose it is a loanword from Khalkha Mongolian чихэр "chikher"; it is written "siker" [read shiker] and "chikir" in Literary Mongolian, ultimately of Iranian origin "shakar", but I don't know through which languages, possibly Uygur "shekär".Umay 10:14, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

If you're on Facebook, there's lots of Tuvans there. --Sborsody 04:27, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
